Relationships Education

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (including Relationships and Sex Education)

The teaching of PSHE (including Relationships and Sex Education) is a statutory part of the curriculum and in most cases children cannot be withdrawn from these lessons. However, if you have any concerns or questions over the unit to be taught to your child, please do not hesitate to contact us.  More information about the statutory requirements for PSHE and RSE can be found by clicking here.

At St Mary's, we use ‘SCARF’ (safety, caring, achievement, resilience and friendship) resource from Coram Life Education, which is a comprehensive teaching scheme covering all of the statutory requirements, as well as some non-statutory objectives. We will also supplement the scheme with other resources, activities and events.

An overview of the SCARF scheme can be found at https://www.coramlifeeducation.org.uk, and details of long-term planning and lesson objectives can be found in Appendices 2 and 3 of the draft PSHE policy below. Please also see below for class specific lesson information.
